How To Use Acai Berry For Its Health Benefits

By now, you've probably heard of the new fad in the diet, weight loss, and beauty industry known as the acai berry. But what is it? Do these claims of weight loss work?

The acai berry grows on the Acai Palm throughout South America and Brazil. Its juice is generally served in smoothies and juice, and as flavoring for other products.

More recently, claims of drastic weight loss by taking the acai berry in the form of capsules or drinks by companies. Are these claims true? Let's take a look at how you can use the acai berry to your advantage-- from me, a certified fitness professional.

One of the major reasons that the acai berry is marketed as a weight loss product is because it does have several nutrients that can help with the weight loss process. For example, it contains high amounts of proteins, which assist in the digestive process. It also contains high trace amounts of fiber which will help prevent constipation.

The acai has high levels of antioxidants, twice as much as that of the blueberry. Antioxidants help fight against free radicals, which can damage the body on a cellular level.

Did you also know that the acai berry is slam full of potassium? Potassium is a huge player in the blood flow process, which is great for improving circulation.

Now, the part you've been waiting for-- the reason that the acai berry is promoted as a weight loss miracle:

The acai berry helps "kick start" your body's metabolic system, which in turn increases blood flow, which burns more calories. So, all of the actions I just described above work together to help the acai berry do all these important things, including assisting in the weight loss process.

Would I recommend taking the acai berry for weight loss alone? No. If you want maximum results and quick results, proper eating habits and exercise are still the way to go-- but the acai berry can definitely help you achieve those results faster!

I'm sorry if this isn't what you wanted to hear. It's not a miracle drug by any means. It contains the exact nutrients that you can find in several food combinations. If you want a great "all in one" package, the acai berry would make a great addition to any lifestyle.

Oh, and all of you distributors of the acai pills, juices, and capsules-- stop contacting me. I'm not interested in marketing your product!

  1. Be careful of websites claiming the weight loss benefits of Acai. To date there has been no reputable study done that has shown any weight loss benefits. Acai does have other great benefits.

  2. This is one wonderful article. Truly enlightening! Enjoyed reading every bit of it. Adding a bit more to it I thought of mentioning about acai side effects. Don't worry, so far there is no evidence that acai does any bad to your body. The only thing I would be worried about is if I purchased an Acai supplement in pill form. There could be additional ingredients, besides Acai that might have side effects. Many of the Acai pills you see advertised are produced by companies with shady business practices, so be sure to read and research all the ingredients before you buy an Acai product.
